PIP: I have installed a doorbell on Black's home.

CLICK: On their home. Not near it.

PIP: Yes. So they know I arrived. And I find out tomorrow whether I stayed.

COACH: Hello. Pip has just described the rule we came for.

COACH: Ten rows. Ten columns. A Hi, a Sjor and a Muju in White's corner.

COACH: White's home is A1, this corner. Black's home is J10, the far corner.

CLICK: Same starting team. Different front doors. Two ways to win.

CLICK: Last piece gone? The game is done.

COACH: The other way is to stand on the other player's home.

COACH: You have to still be standing there when your next turn starts.

PIP: Arrive. Survive. High five?

COACH: A home threat means standing on the corner that could end the game.

COACH: Which corner does White have to reach?

COACH: One card says A1. The other says J10.

COACH: Put a finger on one, or just look at both.

COACH: J10. Black's home.

COACH: A1 is White's own home. Your own home threatens nobody.

COACH: Now the part that catches people. Does arriving finish the game right there?

PIP: It does not. My doorbell only says somebody came.

CLICK: It did not step on the mat. It reached across.

COACH: Pip is right. The visitor has to be there when White's next turn starts.

COACH: And the game has to still be going.

COACH: Home waits a turn. The last piece does not.

PIP: The doorbell rang. Then it had nothing to announce.

CLICK: We know which door. Nobody has counted the walk.

COACH: Now one thing is different. A Black piece is standing on our corner.

COACH: Same rule, other direction. Black's next turn start is the moment that matters.

PIP: Waiting.

CLICK: Arrive. Survive. Next turn: high five.

COACH: That is enough for today if you want.

COACH: White moves first. Each side starts with a Hi, a Sjor and a Muju. White begins on B1, B2 and A2. Black begins on I10, I9 and J9.

COACH: Next time: how far can one piece walk in one go?

PIP: I am keeping the mats. They say welcome. They do not say for how long.
